Bristol Blades Central

Bristol Blades Central runs on Tuesday evenings at Bristol Grammar School Gym & Sports Hall (BS8 1SL). Access is via a flight of steps on Elmdale Road.

Free parking is available in the school car park at the top of University Road (what3words: ///meals.metro.chimp). It is then a short walk down the hill to Elmdale Road.

Bristol Blades Central is where we run our wheelchair fencing sessions. For those with access requirements, direct entrance to the sports hall via a set of access-controlled gates can be arranged. Please contact us beforehand for further details.

There are currently two sessions which run at Bristol Blades Central

18:15-19:30 Junior Foil & Sabre
(Wheelchair Fencing Available)

This is a fully coached session for experienced fencers, i.e. those who have completed at least a beginner’s course. Members are encouraged to go to competitions and coaches provide support at competitions where possible. For the older & more experienced fencers, we also run our Compete Programme.

Personal equipment is provided for all who need it.

Junior beginner sessions in both weapons are also run periodically throughout the year. Please see our beginner’s courses page for more details.

20:00-22:00 Senior Foil, Epee & Sabre
(Wheelchair Fencing Available)

This is a sparring evening for experienced competitive fencers – generally, those who have been fencing for at least 1 year. Limited coaching is provided as part of the session. Some of the club’s coaches are available for private/individual lessons, but these are by arrangement directly with each coach.

We do not provide any personal equipment for this session.

We are unable to run senior beginner courses at this venue due to a lack of space available.
